Pastoral Area of Tir Ui Neill

Pastoral Area of Tir Ui Neill

A pastoral area is a cluster of neighbouring parishes that support each other and share the collaborative gifts and talents of each parish. With the help of the Holy Spirit, they do this in order to fulfill the mission of the Church to proclaim the Word of God and further the mission of Christ in the world.

The parishes of Dungannon (Drumglass, Killyman and Tullyniskin), Moy (Clonfeacle) and Eglish make up the Tir Ui Neill pastoral area. Revd John Connolly (PP of Moy parish) is the Vicar Forane (VF), or priest leader, of our pastoral area. The Vicar Forane of each pastoral area is supported in their leadership by a lay leader who shares the leadership responsibilities with them. The lay-chair of our pastoral area has yet to be nominated.

The work of each of the pastoral areas is coordinated by a pastoral area resource team (P.A.R.T.). The P.A.R.T. consists of five people from each of the parishes in the pastoral area. Under the leadership of the Vicar Forane and the lay leader, the pastoral area resource team helps to strengthen each of the parishes in the pastoral areas by:

  • Ensuring the effective sharing of the collective gifts and talents of the parishes in the pastoral area
  • Identifying pastoral matters that can be done better together as a pastoral area than separately as individual parishes.
